BIOGRAPHY

Baksai József festőművészJózsef Baksai (1957), painter, graphic artist and art teacher
Since the 1980s, his series of paintings have represented mythological themes from different cultures or the elements (his recent works). Due to their special texture, his paintings, which are characterised by dark and earth tones, resemble reliefs. The thick layers of oil paint endow his figures with a spatial dimension. The most outstanding series of his graphic art was inspired by literature. The watercolour & pencil collages he created over the past decade include not only recurrent motifs, such as a dish symbolising the universe, fish, trees and shadows, but text fragments, as well.
