Aknay JánosJános Aknay (1949), painter and sculptor
He has lived in Szentendre since 1970. Aknay is one of the founders and still active members of the Vajda Lajos Studio. He is also the president of the MAOE (the Hungarian Association of Creative Artists). His art is embedded in the constructivist and surrealist pictorial traditions that draw on local motifs and are represented by Lajos Vajda, Dezső Korniss, Endre Bálint and Jenő Barcsay. Aknay has created his individual style by depicting distinctive architectural details, windows, gates, crosses, angel figures and incorporating runes into his paintings.
