BIOGRAPHY – WORKS AT HOME SALONS
Piroska Jávor (1944), painter and enamellist
Her masters were György Szentiványi and Jenő Barcsay at the Academy of Fine Arts. She has lived in Szentendre with her husband, Tamás Asszonyi, who works as a sculptor, since 1969. In the 1970s and 1980s, she dealt with enamelling and tapestry weaving. Due to the feminine, soft, arched forms and playfulness she applies, her pictures, which are painted with clean colours (blue, red, black and white), are in contrast with the local constructivist tradition in the spirit of which they were born. In her paintings, we can discover the distinctive elements of the surrounding landscape, as well as folk art and floral motifs, which often form a raster-like, fragmented surface.
