Ágnes Kabó Sz. Varga (1957) painter, graphic artist
She considers János Pirk and Jenő Benedek to be her masters. She is a member of the Szentendre Graphics Workshop and the Vajda Lajos Studio. Over the past decade, her dynamic, colourful and expressive compositions have been replaced by monochrome coal paintings. Since 2009, she has made her meditative “light spaces” with a special technique, with charcoal. In the strictly constructed labyrinth of her paintings, the beholder is looking for the source from which light is filtering into the space divided by walls and passageways.
