DSC_3085-e1371967135893 (1)Tamás Szabó (1952), sculptor, graphic artist, painter. He graduated as a glass artist from the Hungarian Collage of Applied Arts in 1979. Since 2005, he has been a member of a sculptors’ group called MORPH. Initially, he used to create statuettes and drawings. Since the mid-1980s, he has been commissioned to design several sculptures to be set up in public places. His oil paintings, graphic works and compositions created with mixed technique often serve as studies for his sculptures. The central motif of his works is the human figure, especially the human head or face. In his art, his respect for the material, his outstanding craftsmanship are coupled with a kind of sensibility which transforms his statuettes into “magical objects filled with emotions”. Since 2005, he has created so-called “riveted” sculptures, which are often painted, as well.
